Robinhood Marine Center
presents
A Tribute to:
"The Artists of Riggsville Common"

Our Wednesday Night Lecture Series will take a different turn this summer as we host three very special events. We are fortunate to have a number of talented artists here in Georgetown who have produced unique works of art depicting the historical aspects of "Riggsville" (formerly North Georgetown, now known as Robinhood). We invite you to join us as we honor these gifted individuals for the contributions they have made to our community.

Wednesday, July 26 at 7:00 p.m. Robinhood artist, Jack Schneider. Jack is a multi talented artist whose works have added color, character and historical significance to our facility. Viewing Jack's pieces will bring you back to the early days of Riggsville with dioramas of the working waterfront, a bust of Riggsville founder, Benjamin Riggs, the life size likeness of Mahotiwormet aka "Chief Robinhood" and the whimsical figurehead of our former Accounting Manager, which hangs in our studio. Jack will be sharing many of his works with us this evening. Please join us in paying homage to this gifted artist.

Wednesday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. Georgetown Artist, Art collector and Historian, Gene Reynolds. Gene has been invaluable to us in our pursuit of historical artifacts and information on Riggsville. An artist in his own right, Gene also possesses a great deal of knowledge of Georgetown artists past and present. This evening Gene will share his expertise along with pieces from his personal collection of the works of renowned Robinhood artists, William and Marguerite Zorach, Dahlov Ipcar, Jason Schoener and a few more.

Wednesday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. Five Islands artist, Mary Leonard. Mary's works have graced the walls of many buildings here at Robinhood Marine Center. She has produced the historic renditions of the Riggsville waterfront for our annual calendar and many of our Christmas cards over the years. Mary has mastered many mediums and is able to capture the essence of historic Riggsville. Please join us this evening in our "Tribute to Mary".

The Robinhood Marine Center “Lectures in the Library” ran from 2000 to 2005 as a way of presenting the well documented rich history of Georgetown Island, including the village of Robinhood and the boatyard site along with boating related topics which include great exploits on the high seas.
